The Logansport Parks & Recreation Department/Foundation is very pleased to announce an additional significant private gift to the Clubhouse Project for the Dykeman Park Municipal Golf Course. The Petrie Endowment – funded by Mike Petrie and his Wife, Jody (Jones) - have pledged $500,000 as an investment toward the clubhouse project.

Mike and Jody(Jones)Petrie are 1972 graduates of Logansport High School. The two of them later wed and eventually settled in the Indianapolis area where they established their careers and raised their two children, Emily and Julia. Mike became a very successful banker, with his successes ultimately being the driving force behind the creation of Merchants Bank of Indiana and its subsidiaries. Mike and his family also invested themselves into their local golf club, Highland Golf and Country Club. The efforts of the Petrie family were once again, the driving force behind a refreshed country club with upgraded facilities and increased membership. The Mike Petrie Golf Academy is a focal point of the upgraded facilities and is a testament to the hard work of the Petrie family and its contributions to the club and its membership community.

Notwithstanding all of the Petrie family successes in the Indianapolis area, they have not forgotten about Logansport, their hometown. The Petrie family was approached about the prospect of making a sizable contribution to the Dykeman Clubhouse project. Without hesitation, the Petrie Endowment made a significantly large commitment in the amount of $500,000. Their generosity does not end there. Through his business endeavors and involvement in the golfing community, Mike Petrie would like to honor his long-time friend of Logansport High School, Ted Bishop, with this contribution to the City of Logansport and Dykeman Park Golf Course.

The Petrie Family thought it important to recognize Ted Bishop's efforts and impact on the world of golf.  In his honor, the new facility at Dykeman Park Golf Course will pay tribute to the efforts of Ted Bishop in the golfing community.  Ted Bishop has been instrumental in the golfing world since graduating from Logansport. His contributions to the golf world include being one of the driving forces behind the Legends Golf Course and Academy in Southern Indiana. Ted Bishop was the acting director of the PGA of America. Ted Bishop continues to coach high school girls golf in Franklin, Indiana. He has also been a recipient of two separate “Sagamore of the Wabash” awards, which is the highest distinction a citizen of the State of Indiana can receive.

The Logansport Parks & Recreation Foundation and the City of Logansport are grateful to the Petrie family and their willingness to share their successes with all those that value the Dykeman Park Municipal Golf Course.

At its June meeting, The City of Logansport Common Council voted in favor of supporting Ordinance 2023-13, in which they pledged a $1 million investment in the construction of the new clubhouse at Dykeman Park Municipal Golf Course.  The Council’s commitment is conditional upon additional private funds being raised.

The goal to build the Dykeman Clubhouse requires funds to be raised totaling $3.5 million, AND to build it by the Spring of 2026 – the 100th anniversary of the Dykeman Park Municipal Golf Course. The opportunity to celebrate the 100th anniversary in a new clubhouse at Dykeman Park Municipal Golf Couse in 2026 would create an historic and memorable stage for the NEXT 100 years of the Dykeman Park Municipal Golf Couse in Logansport.

The Logansport Parks & Recreation Foundation has recruited Chairman Brad Rozzi to lead a committee of citizens to publicly & privately raise the necessary funds to build a new structure. Members of the Dykeman Clubhouse Fundraising Committee include Michael Bowditch, Tammy Helvie, Brannon Meagher, Chad Higgins, Chuck LaDow, Kyle Smith, Golf Course Manager & Pro, Dean Vietti, and Parks Administrator, Janet Fawley.
